一部火山喷发的电影

丹特峰：丹特峰市是一个旅游小镇，毗邻休眠火山丹特峰。火山学家哈里来此考察，发现种种异常，他认为是火山爆发的前兆，并向女市场瑞切尔提议疏散群众。可是他的意见被上司鲍尔以和谐为名阻止。最终，哈里获得了火山将要爆发的确凿证据，但此时再疏散已经来不及了，火山爆发了。瑞切尔的儿子和女儿到山上去营救奶奶，哈里和瑞切尔也追了上去。奶奶为了救孩子，跳入因火山爆发而变得又热又酸的湖中，重伤而死。与此同时，哈里的上司鲍尔也遇到火山泥流被冲走。哈里和瑞切尔带着两个孩子在逃跑的路上，火山开始了最大的爆发，火山碎屑流横扫一切，瑞切尔的儿子找到了他经常玩的地方作为避难所，最终4人成功获救。

《丹特峰》全片分别在爱达荷州旧矿区的华勒斯小镇及洛杉矶片场和周围外景拍摄完成，由于这是一部着重于表现火山爆发的灾难片。为缔造影史上规模最大、最写实的火山爆发场面。制作方除了请来曾经目睹80年代中期夺走两万名性命的哥伦比亚火山爆发的火山专家作为顾问。片中180组特效镜头更是全部由颇具实力的数位领域特效工作室处理，而这个工作室曾因拍摄《阿波罗13》荣获奥斯卡奖提名。 整个特效场景制作复杂，工作人员先搭造100呎高、35呎宽的火山模型，之后再用电脑动画加上浓烟、岩浆和石灰等，制造出逼真的火山爆发场面，银幕上的天崩地裂，视觉冲击力很好。
